CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH EXAMINATION COURSES
Cambridge English examinations are taken by many thousands of learners each year, and are accepted internationally by employers and educational institutions.
We offer preparation for First (FCE) and Advanced (CAE) exams at all year-round centres and Proficiency (CPE) exams in Brighton, London Central, San Francisco and New York City.
Our centres in Eastbourne, San Francisco and New York City are Cambridge English test centres so you
can take the exam at the school at the end of your course. Students can also take the exam at London Central via the London Exam Centre.

IELTS PREPARATION
IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) is a well recognised examination. It is the entry requirement for universities in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and is also recognised by international employers. In the UK, our Brighton school offers IELTS preparation courses of 2 or more weeks, whilst our other schools (Cambridge, Eastbourne, London Central and London Highgate) offer courses of 4 or more weeks. These
courses all have weekly start dates. In Vancouver, IELTS courses are also available, but they have set start dates
and run for 4 weeks. Students who take this course will have 20 morning lessons of IELTS preparation, plus the option to add 8 afternoon lessons of either General English or English for University Studies.
TOEFL PREPARATION
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is the most popular exam for North American English, and the preferred English language qualification and entry requirement for universities in the USA and Canada.
We offer a 4-week course for the TOEFL exam at our Vancouver centre and a course of 6 weeks in San Francisco and New York. TOEFL examinations are held regularly throughout the year and we can help students to book their exams. New York City and San Francisco are test centres for the exam.
TOEIC PREPARATION
The Test of English for International Communication, or TOEIC, is an internationally recognised English language examination designed to test the everyday English skills of people who use English in the workplace. There are two papers: Speaking & Writing, and Reading & Listening.
We offer a preparation course of 4 weeks with 2-4 start dates per year. You can prepare for the Reading & Listening
paper at our US centres and for both papers at our Vancouver centre. Both US schools are also test centres for the
examination.

UK CELTA courses are run in partnership with the St Giles Educational Trust. The St Giles Educational Trust is a registered charity, established in 1970 to raise standards in the English Language Teaching (ELT) profession through its Teacher Training and language research programmes.
INITIAL TEACHER TRAINING: CAMBRIDGE CELTA
We run courses leading to the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). This initial teaching qualification is the most widely recognised by international employers as well as by the British Council.
CELTA courses are open to both native English speakers and those who do not speak English as their first language, but who have a high level of competence in English (at least C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR).
CELTA courses are offered by the Brighton, London Central, London Highgate, New York City and San Francisco schools. Our CELTA courses are offered as 4-week intensive courses and 12-week part time courses.
IN-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING: CAMBRIDGE DELTA (MODULES 1, 2 & 3)
The Cambridge Delta is a higher-level, flexible three-module qualification aimed at practising teachers. The course should help teachers develop their professional knowledge and skills. Tutors provide support, advice and feedback throughout the course, as well as one-to-one tutorials and help with exam techniques. All three Delta modules are offered on a part-time basis at Brighton. IN-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING: CAMBRIDGE ICELT
The ICELT (In-service Certificate in English Language Teaching) is a Cambridge award for experienced English language teachers who do not have English as their first language. The ICELT course consists of two separately
accredited modules. Module 1 can be taken either in the UK or in the teacher’s own country but Module 2 includes assessed teaching observations in the teacher’s own local work context.
We also offer ICELT courses for closed groups of teachers.
TEACHER DEVELOPMENT COURSES: TEACHER OF ENGLISH (TEC) AND CAMBRIDGE TKT
The 2-week TEC course is offered at all centres in the UK and USA. It is designed specifically for practising teachers of English from all over the world, who do not have English as a first language. These courses enable teachers to update their professional practice and improve their language skills. Brighton also runs a 2-week course to prepare teachers for Modules 1, 2 and 3 of the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). The examination is taken on the final day of the course.
FAMILY COURSES FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN AGED 7-15
Family Courses Summer packages for families looking to learn and practise English on their holiday. A range of flexible packages are available for all families. Beginner+ Ages: Children 7-15, Adults 16+ 1+ weeks Set start dates during the summer.
These courses offer families the chance to experience living and studying in a new city. Parents can study English in the mornings at our year-round adult schools, Brighton, London Central, New York City or San Francisco, whilst their children have lessons in modern classrooms nearby. Our programme is designed to be flexible. The full package includes lessons, 3 afternoon activities and a full-day excursion as a family each week, but other options

Beginner level Junior students will be placed in elementary classes and given extra support.
